Awhile back, we announced a public beta of BadwareBusters.org, a collaboration between StopBadware.org and Consumer Reports WebWatch to offer an online community meeting place in which people could receive and offer help and thoughts about badware. Today we released a number of improvements to the site designed to make it easier to use.

The new look is interesting.
I noticed that the Search link in the menu is not active. Do you intend to add functionality for this in the future?
One thing that might be a little confusing to new users is the Browse / Search in the menu. Perhaps, if you keep Search, Browse might be renamed to something like Topics?
There is a How to Use link in both the menu and the footer. This may have been an intended feature, though.
Would you consider having a button leading to the RSS feed on the homepage?
Thanks for the feedback. The “Search” link should open a search box at the top of the screen. We are planning to change it to direct to a normal search page to avoid confusion.
Interesting observation about Browse/Search. I *think* many users understand the distinction, but we’ll have to keep a close eye on that. One of the reasons for the new home page was so users would automatically be directed to the Browse page, which is likely the best starting point.
Yes, we put How to Use in both the header and the footer to make it as easy to find as possible for new users.
We might be able to add the RSS icon to the homepage. Meanwhile, in Firefox and in IE 7+, attempting to subscribe from the homepage should automatically direct you to the “Most recent topics” feed.
Again, thanks for the feedback!
Somehow I missed the box appearing when I clicked on the Search link. Now that you mention it, I do see it showing up in the upper-right area.
By the way, when I submit a comment here, I receive an error:
“Application error (Apache)”
The posts are still going through as we can see.
I’m not sure whether there is any major underlying problem, though.
Interesting, but glad the posts are still going through. We’ll look into it.
I just signed up for an account, glad i saw this
Nice looking site. Yes the search is confusing, maybe just have it visible all the time or go to another page.

This sure looks promising. I see huge potential for this community site. But the real power of it depends if the big buys join and serve the community.
Hi Gaurav,
