Another Malicious Ebay Redirect

Some fun for Monday:

Some Ebay sellers really want positive feedback. Sandi at Spyware Sucks has noted an occurence of Adobe Shockwave “redirecting Ebay”:http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/default.aspx users, which is noteworthy as the first time that she has seen Shockwave used in this role.

The Register UK reports that this scam “harvests the email addresses”:http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/18/ebay_scripting_malfeasance/ of people who visited their page, allowing them to bolster their positive ratings. The redirect moves users to the ASPX site of a different seller and automatically submits a prefabricated review.

Seems like a lot of work for a couple more gold stars. I am curious to now what else is happening with the purloined information. Perhaps more information will surface during the coming week.
