Monday Midday Malware Rally

Friday was host to several interesting events that are worth mentioning.

First, Sandi at Spyware Sucks has made good on her promise to “further track”:http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/archive/2008/03/14/1542562.aspx the movement of malvertising sites. She’s found that staticglobalsources.net redirects to adtraff.com, and explains that due to their shared server names that this new name is mascarading as a stand-in for adtraff (which has generated something of a “reputation”:http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/search.aspx?q=adtraff&o=Relevance.

Second, “Cnet reported”:http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9894181-7.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=NewsBlog that Trened Micro’s website got *very* hacked. The attack went after passwords and other user information. They’ve even provided “a video”:http://www.avertlabs.com/research/blog/index.php/2008/03/13/follow-up-to-yesterdays-mass-hack-attack/ of the attack that pursued upwards of 10,000 webpages.

On that cheery note: %{color:green}Happy St. Patrick’s from the most Irish city in the USA!%
